Dear all,
We the members and officials of the Liberia Christian Handicapped Organization (LICHO), wish to bring to your attention and to call on you all the friends of Global Giving to see the need to support our project “EMPOWERING THE DISABLE THROUGH AGRICULTURE.”
Share the joy of being one of those contributing to bringing hope to the hopeless, strength to the weak, food to the hunger, respect and dignity to the neglected and abandoned citizens of our world. Please visit:
http://www.globalgiving.org/projects/empowering-the-disabled-through-agriculture/ to offer supports and donations for our project.
The disabled people in Liberia have suffered a 14 years brutal civil war that destroyed the entire country. As a result, thousands were killed and many were made disabled. According to UNICEF Assessment in 1997, about 366000 disabled are living in the country of 3500000 population. About 99% are unemployed and live below poverty line and 98% have no access to formal education and vocational/skill development. They are neglected, segregated and abandoned by parents, family and community members. This situation requires urgent attention to help bring some relief to the sufferings of our disabled brothers and sisters of Liberia.
In light of the above and on behalf of the above organization, which is a charitable non discriminatory and non for profit organization, we are calling on you donor organizations, foundations, corporate institutions, charitable and individual donors to give to the cause of empowering and building the capacities of the suffering disabled people in Liberia, a country that just emerged out of war.
You will find a special joy by your giving to this project to in the future see on our website (
http://www.licho-lib.org), where disabled people owning and running their farms as the result of your donations to this project.
Join in empowering the disabled people in Liberia through Agriculture. Give to bring relief to those who need it.
Yours,
Kaprie Kanu
